Infrastructure in Windham
Windham is one of the fastest growing towns in Maine for residential housing, but is significantly lacking in commercial development. Commercial development such as retail, service businesses, restaurants, office space, manufacturing and high density residential in our are key to our economic future. This development would benefit our town, by bringing more of a sense of community and a place people want to be, by helping create new revenues to offset the residential tax burden and by encouraging growth in the places we want, instead of the places we don’t want. Without focusing on and solving our infrastructure needs such as sewer, public water connectivity, broadband internet access and traffic bypasses then plans like the 21rst Century Downtown Plan and South Windham redevelopment will continue to go unfulfilled and Windham will remain stagnant. MWF supports ideas and policies that break the cycle of deferring upgrades we desperately need, that understand that doing nothing costs us more than doing something and helps Windham think and plan for long term success.
